Wind raging in your hair, sunshine piercing through your eyelashes. Laughter explodes from within you, echoing, colliding with the sound of the ocean breeze. And you feel it, now you know. Pieces of your soul fly off, carried away in the vast horizon. You’re there.

The Silent Lover

Words are so overrated.
Tongues should only be used to caress one another.
He’s quiet, contained. There’s a storm within him, but he need not say a word. He’s my ecstasy. I break at the seams at the touch of his fingertips. Palms brushing down my back, kisses planted on my shoulders, head resting against my beating heart.

I crave his touch.

I’ve been dragged of my comfort zone. Loneliness I can’t bare. You brought me here, so why won’t you stand by me? Look how far I’ve come, how careless I’ve become. Isn’t this fun for you?

My sanity is drifting away, I’m left to tremble in discomfort while everything I’ve known as fact is crumbling down like sandcastles that stayed in the sun for too long.
Where do I go once you’re gone?

On superficiality

Humanity is drowning in its own vanity.Living as if being pretty is the most important thing next to breathing. We’re surrounded by lackadaisical people oblivious to anything that doesn’t promote an instantaneous beautifying effect; who spend superfluously on unnecessary things only for their efforts to go unnoticed once again. Our compassion towards one another, our sympathy and ability to relate to others diminishes whenever we have to do with someone we see as more attractive or superior to ourselves.

We have transformed into walking, breathing, living advertisements; showcasing anything, from the food we eat, to our bodies in hope of obtaining some likes on pictures plastered all over social media. We fail to remember that we are our own worst critics, and all this prejudice that surrounds us only helps shrink our self-importance and self-appreciation. It’s a constant search of approval, but what you’re not noticing is that everyone is so concerned with themselves that nobody truly observes anything going on around them; they’re just looking (for flaws), not seeing (beauty). This kind of collective behavior belittles humankind, submerging us in our own sadness and draining our self-confidence, convincing us from the very moment we’re born that we are always supposed to look and act perfect, that what we think and feel is insignificant, as long as you’re looking good.

Nobody ponders about things that matter anymore. Most do nothing but scrape the surface of their brains; their mind finding use only for what I refer to as biological purposes. Even the things that concern us are limited to what we’re presented with from the media. It’s as if all souls under the smoldering sun have suddenly vaporized, and meaty mass is all there is left to roam these streets.

Uncommon are those who still enthrall with just their passion and intelligence, whose faces beam with exhilaration every time you bring up something they’re passionate about, thrilled they got the chance to let you in on their opinion; that captivate your soul with just their words, infest your mind with knowledge and give you reason to contemplate. And when you do find a person that’s so extraordinary, so aware and conscious of their existence, of their power and importance, that’s full of life, energy and boldness, it’s like watching a meteor setting the sky ablaze on the gloomiest of nights. They alter your outlook on life itself.

If you are one of these persons who choose to fill their lives with a plethora of interests, I hope you know you’re an eminent human being that’s as rare as a glass winged butterfly. May you continue to live your life with passion and tenderness, though be wary not to lose that which individuates you. Use this blessing to inspire others around you, feeding their minds and giving them hope, shaking vanity right out of society.  And if you don’t fall into this group of people, I hope one finds you soon and presents you with the abundance of truly precious things in life. There’s so much more to breathe for than just impressing those who aren’t even concerned with your happiness and fulfillment.

Embrace life in more than just one dimension, for if we were meant to live on a line, we’d simply be dead.

How I fell in love with The City

Restless, energetic, friendly, humid, welcoming, warm, bright, noisy and ever changing…

How can you ever find yourself under all those shining lights and think to yourself ‘I do not like New York City’?! Yes, it is humid. Yes, it is overflowing with people. Yes, you can barely see the sky, but I am so glad I got to breathe that humid air, so thankful I walked on that overstepped pavement, so blessed to have one form of the ever-changing city etched in my mind. These people are so aware of their presence in the world, they are fully conscious of their energy and the way it affects the whole habitat. New Yorkers are so used to tourists, they will gladly offer help if they see you struggling even the slightest bit, be it getting around the subway system, directions for landmarks and interesting places throughout the city and even recommendations. This noisy species so used to chaos will gladly shout compliments at you from across a busy street, they will smile and give a thumbs up while walking past you, or straight up stop you in your tracks and say ‘Oh my God! I love your ring!’, and of course, many new brides will reply with the now classic, overly-enthusiastic ‘Thanks, I designed it myself! I just got married!!!’.

Positive vibes will haunt you throughout the City, they will follow you around museums, greet you in department stores and surprise you strolling around Central Park. It is impossible not to fall in love with the City and I truly hope everyone has the opportunity to experience it as beautifully as I did, be it long-time New Yorkers or first-time tourists.

Thank you, New York.

Wielding Wind

Maybe some women aren’t meant to be tamed. Maybe they need to run free until they find someone just as wild to run with.

I’ve ran, and ran, and ran. Wind has entangled my hair, the concrete has weakened my knees and my breathing is rapid. In the aftermath of my latest bolt for freedom the consequences are notable, but in my sprint I found you.

I found solace, I found peace, I found love.

There is so much beauty in our love, it is so pure, so two-sided, so humble yet great. I find happiness in its simplicity, in the way everything has happened so naturally, in its own pace. You have accepted me with all that I am, you have not judged me for what I do or do not know, you have seen me in sunshine and you’ve loved me by moonlight and there is nothing I love more than your love.

Run with me.

To have and to hold

Darling, time never asks,
“How much more do you need?”,
It only has three tasks,
To run, and skip, and speed.

Take me in your arms,
Hold me till I dream,
Of heavenly skies,
And colors never seen.

I pray to be yours,
Now and forever,
Until clocks have run their course,
And we breathe again never.
